Joining IC Big Band

At the start of each year IC Big Band will hold auditions for new members who wish to join the band, new members to Imperial College should find us at the Freshers Fair in the first week of term. Alternatively you can email us to register your interest and so we can arrange an audition time. Anyone is welcome to audition and even if you are not joining the University this year or have auditioned before we still want to hear from you.

If you are a horn player we are looking for players who are at least at a equivalent Grade 6 sight reading level, while for rhythm players we expect experience in playing in a big band and to be fluent in reading chord changes and notated music. The ability to improvise is not essential but is extremely desirable however we usually run workshops if you want to learn from professionals and fellow band members.
